The Milltown Democratic Organization (MDO) held its reorganization meeting on January 25 electing its new officers for 2012 as follows: Chairperson Patty Murray, Vice-chairperson Gary Walters and Secretary AnneMari Raciti. Joe Cruz will continue as treasurer.
“We are indebted to outgoing chairperson, Billy Deinzer, who expertly led the Milltown Democratic Organization for the past three years after the sad and unexpected passing of David Crabiel in 2008. Our goal moving forward is to continue building upon their legacy of putting Milltown first and doing what is best for the residents,” says Chairperson Patty Murray, who adds that former secretary Nick Ligotti, who is integral to the organization, will continue as an MDO volunteer.
According to Murray, the Milltown Democratic Organization is now accepting names of people interested in being screened as a council candidate for 2012. Anyone interested can call 732-672-5502 for more information by Feb 18.
Chairperson Patty Murray – A Milltown resident for 12 years, Patty Murray is a member of the Milltown Cable TV Advisory Board, a member of the Milltown Chamber of Commerce and, until now, had been serving as the MDO vice-chairperson. A graduate of Rutgers University, Murray runs Murray Public Relations, a PR, marketing and event planning firm she started 18 years ago. A former Milltown councilwoman, Murray also was a member of the Milltown Revitalization Committee and served as the Pride In Milltown Day Chairperson for seven years.
Vice-chairperson Gary Walters – A Milltown resident for 25 years, Gary Walters is vice-chairperson of the Milltown Planning Board, vice-chairperson of the Ford Avenue Redevelopment Agency and a member of the Electrical Sub-station Committee. Walters also is a former councilman, a past president of the Milltown Little League and the Spotswood Touchdown Club and a Youth Sports Coach. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Walters is a manager at Verizon, where he has worked for 39 years. He is married and has three children.
Secretary AnneMari Raciti – AnneMari Raciti has lived in Milltown for the past 11 years. Before becoming MDO secretary, Raciti was an MDO Committeewoman for the 7th District. A member of the Middlesex County Federation of Democratic Women, Raciti is married with two children and one grandchild.
Treasurer Joe Cruz – A resident of Milltown for 42 years, Joe Cruz is a principal in J&M Construction and a Middlesex County Sherriff’s Officer with the K-9 Unit. He also is an MDO Committeeman for the 8th District. A former councilman, Cruz is married and has three children.
